Overview
A Master of Science in Food Science and Nutrition (M.Sc. FSN) is a two year
postgraduate
degree program that focuses on advanced studies in the fields of food science,
nutrition, and their applications. This program is designed to provide students with
an
in-depth understanding of the scientific principles underlying food production,
processing, safety, and the relationship between nutrition and human health.
Graduates with an M.Sc. in Food Science and Nutrition can pursue careers in various
sectors, including the food industry, healthcare, research institutions, government
agencies, and consulting firms. They may work as food scientists, nutritionists,
research analysts, quality control specialists, or educators.
Eligibility
Minimum percentage is 50% or B grade (Open Category) and 45% (Reserved category) for
students who have the following degrees: B.Sc. Foods &Nutrition/ Food Science &
Nutrition/ Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics/ Nutrition & Dietetics/ Public Health
&Nutrition/Food Science& Quality Control/Applied Nutrition/Food Technology.
Minimum percentage is 60% or B grade for students with a degree in Pure
Sciences: B.Sc. Life Sciences/ Biochemistry / Biotechnology / Physiology
/Microbiology

Course Objective
The Master of Science in Food Science and Nutrition (M.Sc.(FSN)), is a two years
postgraduate
degree program. The study covers all the aspects of Food Science and Nutrition such as
Clinical and Therapeutic Nutrition, Nutritional Biochemistry, Food Safety and Quality
Control and Applied Nutrition.
The aim of the course is to focus on the interface human nutrition, food science and food
industry, which includes the natural significance of processed food in the diet, the
effect
of nutrition labeling and nutrition calling, functional food and catering technology and
nutritional quality.

Nutrition,
in both Public and Private Sectors, Colleges & Universities such as Hospitals, Health
and
Recreation Clubs, Food Manufacturing Unit, Consultancy.
After the successful completion of the Master’s study program one can recognized as
Nutrition
Specialist / Dietician and be able to work as Food Scientist or Technologist, Executive
Officer (Nutrition Department), Lifestyle Counsellor, Diet Consultant, Senior Manager
(Food

private sector research institutes, food product manufacturing companies and hospitals.
Teaching the science of nutrition of dietetics in colleges and universities is also a
