The first year of a B.Tech program lays down the basic principles of engineering and introduces the students to the specialisation they would opt for at the end of the first year. These are usually general courses such as engineering mathematics, physics and chemistry, and basic engineering courses such as mechanics, electronics and computer engineering. These subjects offer the basic ideas of engineering and the usage of the concepts in various sectors.
