B.Tech in Electrical Engineering

Overview

  • Duration - 4 year
  • Course Type - Full time

An Electrical Engineer is trained to work in different industries in various departments. That is to say that a broad range of electrical jobs is available for students who have taken electrical engineering as their career pathway. The course prepares a student to design, build, research and test electronic circuits and components, very much prominent and essential in today’s hi-tech society. Furthermore, there has been an ever-increasing demand for electrical engineers in society for decades, which is still the same. Therefore, B.Tech in Electrical Engineering is one of the most popular courses among science students.

The curriculum of the course covers the study and design of modern applications & gadgets. It includes various fields like VLSI, Embedded Systems, Artificial Intelligence and Soft Computing. These fields form the foundation of Electrical Engineering. The course consists of 8 semesters which are spread over a period of 4 years i.e. 2 semesters each year. We make the students capable of applying their knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering fundamentals to solve complex engineering problems. After successful completion of this undergraduate degree course, they can identify, formulate, research and analyze complex engineering problems. Also reach substantiated conclusions using the first principles of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering sciences

Course Structure

The course delivery methods include lectures, seminars, training and a research project. The study and use of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetic for the creation and maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment is the focus of the four-year B. Tech. in Electrical Engineering curriculum. Electrical engineering students operate in a variety of businesses, including computer chips, big power plants, industrial gear, and hardware firms. They also produce ignition systems for engines of all types and for cars, planes, spacecraft, and other vehicles. CAD systems are used by electrical engineers to plan out circuits and build diagrams. Computers are also used to simulate the operation of electrical systems and equipment.

Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for any engineering graduation course are very simple. Similarly, the criteria for this B.Tech in Electrical Engineering course are quite easy. The candidates should have passed their Higher Secondary Certificate or (10+2) or its equivalent examination from a recognized board to get admission with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks. Also in their secondary education, they should have Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with any one of the subjects like Computer Science, Chemistry, Biotechnology and Biology.

Admission Procedure

  • The university posts a notification on its website, notice board, and other public areas like newspapers, etc. before the start of each admission cycle.
  • A list of the students who have been shortlisted is posted on the university website, on the notice board, or the students themselves are told of their admission once the application deadline has passed.
  • Even if you are awaiting the results of your qualifying exam, you are still able to apply. Such applicants are given provisional admittance and are required to present their Mark Sheets from the previous school year to verify that they meet the requirements. Your Mark Sheets must be turned in before the deadline for admissions applications.
  • The candidate will have one month to submit the qualifying examination mark sheet following the approval of the provisional admission. If student fails to do so it may consequently result in the termination of provisional admission.
  • If a candidate is given provisional admission under the aforementioned circumstances but fails to meet the eligibility requirements or does not receive the necessary marks, the candidate will not be admitted.
  • The provisional admission is revoked in that situation.
  • The following reasons are given for rejecting an application form:
    • The candidate does not meet the University's qualifying requirements.
    • If the candidate doesn't provide the required fee, the admission is revoked.
    • If the candidate's signature and those of their parents or legal guardians, if appropriate, are missing from the application form, provisional admission will be revoked.
    • The applicant misses the deadline for submitting the necessary paperwork for admission.
  • The University will provide the student an enrolment number after receiving all required paperwork and funds.
  • There may be occasions where the University's admissions rules are applicable.

Careers

As an electrical engineer, you'll design, develop and test components, devices, systems or equipment that use electricity as their source of power. Some of these components are capacitors, diodes, resistors and transistors.

Moreover, job opportunities are available for you at various stages of a project. You may be involved at any stage of a project including the initial brief for a concept, the design and development stage, the testing of prototypes and the final manufacture and implementation of a new product or system. Also, you'll work in project teams with colleagues in other branches of engineering.

Further Studies

After completion of the graduation course, one can go for higher studies. A major benefit of it is that it provides the students with a chance to gain expertise in their field of interest. Thus making better and more prestigious job opportunities available for them. They can go for a postgraduate M.Tech course in their preferred engineering specialization. Moreover one can also opt for an MBA course or specific postgraduate diploma courses.

Job Opportunities

As mentioned before there are many fields electrical engineers can work in like:

  1. Acoustics
  2. Defence
  3. Medical instruments
  4. Mobile phones
  5. Nanotechnology
  6. Radio and satellite communication
  7. Robotics
