There are several postgraduate programs and degrees you can pursue after completing a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, which are as follows:
A person seeking a B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering should have strong analytic and problem-solving abilities, a good mathematical background and physics, and an interest in machinery and mechanical structures.
Based on their specialisation, Mechanical Engineering graduates can practice as Design Engineers, Production Engineers, Mechanical Maintenance Engineers, and Thermal Engineers. Other roles include Automotive Engineers, Aerospace Engineers, and Project Managers. The other available jobs are in areas related to Robotics, HVAC, or Manufacturing.
Mechanical Engineering is the most general and versatile among engineering degrees in terms of the availability of jobs. It offers students strong theoretical and practical knowledge and prepares them to work in any particular part of manufacturing, aerospace, automotive or other industries.
There is a clear variation in the starting salaries of Mechanical Engineering graduates depending on the region of employment, company and job classification. In India, they usually range from 4,00,000 to 8,00,000 Indian rupees per annum. In developed countries such as the United States of America, one can be paid between $ 60,000 and $ 80,000 as a starting salary.
The employment rate of Mechanical Engineers is relatively high, and they can quickly move up to higher positions, including senior technical positions, project managers or technical experts in areas like robotics or renewable energy sources. Prospective professional mechanical engineers can enhance their employability by attaining work experience and then undergoing additional studies to work in higher positions such as senior mechanical engineer, engineering manager, or chief engineer.
